About Sanford
Sanford is the county seat of Seminole County and is central Florida. This community was once the “transportation hub” of the agricultural industry that flourished before Walt Disney World was opened in 1971. Sanford is located at the southern end of Lake Monroe and head of navigation of the St. John’s River. This is why the city is known as the “Historic Waterfront Gateway City”. Today, Sanford is home to the Orlando-Sanford International Airport and several aeronautical flight schools. Aside from the transportation industry, Sanford is a quiet, residential community, which has been immortalized in such films as “My Girl”, “Passenger 57”, and “Wilder Napalm”. The largest mall in central Florida is located in Sanford. It is the Seminole Town Center.
