Orange Port is a suburb of Jacksonville that encompasses several unincorporated communities outside the town’s limits: Fleming Island, Ridgewood, Doctor’s Inlet, Orange Park South, and Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace. Orange Port is nestled just north of Doctor Lake and it skirts the St. John’s River on the east. The town of Orange Port is predominately residential. It was once an agricultural mecca, but in the Great Freeze in the 1800’s, many farmers moved from the area. This town has a large military presence due to its close location to Jacksonville’s Naval Air Station. Orange Port is home to the largest of three campuses of the St. John’s River Community College.
